Sipho Mdleleni
Group Human Resources Head

Martin Kahanovitz - Group Financial Director Sipho Mdleleni has achieved a range of academic qualifications which include; A National Diploma in Personnel Management from the Peninsula Technikon, a B.Soc. Science from the University of Cape Town in 1995.

He furthered his academic studies with career specific training which included a Train-the Trainer Diploma from Damelin College and then went on to complete an Honours degree at University of Stellenbosch.

During 2008 he added a course of Strategic HR and Leadership.

Sipho has held various positions in Human Resources with key blue chip and multi-national companies, which include Telkom SA, Old Mutual as well as Shell.

He gained a key understanding of government processes and procedures during his tenure with the Eastern Cape government.

In 2007, Sipho joined Litha Healthcare Holdings as their HR Executive and has since been made the Group HR Head of both Litha Healthcare Holdings and the group’s private public partnership initiative with Government, The Biovac Institute.

During his time at Litha Healthcare Holdings, Sipho has successfully rolled out the Performance management system throughout the organization. He was later responsible for introducing the automated Performance Management system which ensures that the group maintains its strong bias on training and competency development.

He also launched the organizational climate survey, which takes place annually. These are the action plans that are informed by the results of the survey are developed at EXCO level.

Under his watch, employee engagement has been intensified through the establishment of the Workplace Forum and the introduction of change agents.

More recently the HR team under Sipho’s leadership launched the CEO Agenda concept to enable staff to understand and incorporate the Litha vision, mission, values and leadership competencies into their daily lives.

Understanding the need to create platforms for sustainable skills development, Sipho has been instrumental in fostering and building relationships with academic institutions. The Biovac Institute currently holds internships with Technikons as well as the University of Cape Town.

Developing opportunities at all levels of academic tuition, the company, through Sipho’s initiation, also established links with LEAP College, which is an academic institution which caters for the provision of maths and science education for children from disadvantaged communities.

Part of this engagement has been the development of a “job-shadowing” programme at The Biovac Institute.

Sipho currently serves as alternate Board Member for Sisonke (in which Litha Healthcare Holdings has a 25% stake) and is an Exco member for Biomeriuex (a French multinational, in which Litha Healthcare Holdings as a 26% stake).
