Careers for Africa’s future
In partnership with tertiary academic institutions such as the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the National Research Foundation, The Biovac Institute alongside our mother company, the Litha Healthcare Group, participate in a National Internship Programme in our quest to support job skills development and personal growth of the many previously disadvantaged, young South African graduates.
We also promote applications for internships from the general labour market and advertise our internship opportunities on our company website during quarter 4 on an annual basis. Locally, in the Western Cape, The Biovac Institute also partners with institutions such as Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and University of Cape Town (UCT) in sourcing interns and is looking to broaden its partnerships with other local institutions.
Our internships run from April to March annually and continue for the period of 12 months.
We fund scholarships through our relationship with the University of Cape Town and offer Masters Students funding through scholarships and the opportunity to gain practical on the job exposure within areas such as our Research and Development business unit.
Our mentors are eager to support interns to the extent that our successful internship completion rate hardly drops below 95%. We’ve successfully placed a number of interns after completion of their program with us and we have seen many of them climbing our corporate ladder and moving into cross functional roles to continuously develop their skills and expertise within the vaccine world.
