Morena Makhoana
CEO
Morena holds an MBChB from the University of Cape Town in 2000. He began his career with The Biovac Institute and Litha Healthcare Holdings as the Medical Affairs Manager at Biovac SA (now Litha Vaccines) in 2004. His significant contribution and commitment to the organisation’s major deals led to his appointment as Deputy MD of Biovac SA (now Litha Vaccines) in 2006. After serving as Deputy CEO for two years, Morena was appointed as CEO of The Biovac Institute in 2010. His primary focus remains the integration between the groups’ operations and its strategic outlook.Read more >>
Mpumelelo “Mpumi” Sowazi
Deputy Chairman
Mpumi has served in the legal departments of a number of large South African corporations, including Anglovaal Limited and IBM, as senior legal adviser. He is currently an Executive Director of Litha Healthcare Holdings (Proprietary) Limited (“Litha Holdings”) and a director of other companies in the Litha Holdings’ stable. He is mainly responsible for corporate affairs services and the strategic positioning of these companies in the dynamic business environment they operate within. His legal background and experience in business negotiation and legal analysis is a valuable addition to Litha Holdings’ skills base.

Martin Kahanovitz
Group Financial Director
Martin holds a BCOM honours majoring in accounting from Wits University and completed his articles at Fisher Hoffman Sithole, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1995. He is currently the Group Financial Director of Litha Healthcare Holdings and has been instrumental in growing the company. He is responsible for managing the financial administration for the organisation and oversees all company mergers, acquisitions and partnerships with local and international organisations.

Sipho Mdleleni
Group Human Resources Head
Sipho has held various positions in Human Resources with key blue chip and multi-national companies, which include Telkom SA, Old Mutual and Shell. He has numerous qualifications, including a B.Soc. Science from the University of Cape Town and an Honours degree from the University of Stellenbosch. He joined Litha Healthcare Holdings in 2007 as its HR Executive and has since been made the Group HR Head of both Litha Healthcare Holdings and the group’s private public partnership initiative with Government, The Biovac Institute. During his time at Litha Healthcare Holdings, Sipho has successfully rolled out a Performance Management System throughout the organisation and ensures that the group maintains its strong focus on training and competency development.
