|Dierk joined Biovac as COO in March 2014. He is an invitee of the Board and a member of the Biovac Executive team.|
His mandate is:
- To establish, sustain and improve domestic capacity in vaccine manufacturing in accordance with Biovac’s policies, industry standards, including current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), and applicable laws.
- To lead all Operational Units including production, supply chain, engineering and project management.
- To ensure optimal systems, processes and products are in place.
Dierk graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover, Germany. He holds two doctorates in veterinary medicine (University of Veterinary Medicine, Hanover, and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht, The Netherlands). He is also an FTA-certified Veterinarian for both Parasitology and Tropical Veterinary Medicine.
Dierk brings international experience spanning 25 years. This includes 9 years with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), during which he contributed to validation and certification of the diagnostic assays for animal infectious diseases required for regulation of trade in animals and animal products, in support of the Office International des Epizooties (OIE) guidelines. He entered biotechnology as a Project Manager at Bommeli Diagnostics (now Idexx Laboratories) in Switzerland, and in 2002, started in the field of vaccines by joining Lohmann Animal Health in Germany.
